Around the world is partly similar to Ludo in that each player has 4 pieces that they need to get home. Two to four players can play. The object of the game is for each piece to move clockwise around the board landing on countries of the world by train, boat or plane depending on what type of square the piece is next on to go around the world.
For their turn a player can move any of their 4 pieces. If they move on a boat square they can move using different dice for different modes of transport. On a player's turn they can only move onto one type of square eg if moving onto a train square can not also on the same turn move on to a boat square. If a player lands on opponent's piece like Ludo that piece has to start again from the beginning.
For a train or plane piece, but not a boat piece, aplayer need to be careful what country they land on. If an opponent has an appropriate "starts with" or "ends with" card and says "Match" and the name of the country the opponent has landed on, the piece has to go back 5 squares. (For younger children you can allow them just to say "Match" and not say the name the country.)
At the beginning each player has one "starts with" and one "ends with card". Each player is given a starts with and ends with card from the card deck. If they don't like the card they can instead take a letter card that is available. There are 26 letter cards. Whatever letter card they choose their starts with will starts and end with be this letter eg if they take letter B their starts and ends with card is now starts with or ends with the letter B. The letter card must be displayed for all to see unlike the actual starts with and ends with card.
When a player manages to get all their four pieces around the world they win. The next player to do so will come second.
