Disney experimented with 3D printed chess sets and even attempted 3D printing of transparent light pipes for use in conjunction with a chess computer which could illuminate chess pieces; presumably in combination with branded sound effects. Although we are extremely reluctant to violate Disney's grossly extended copyrights on folktales, we are willing to make similar systems as required. For low volume production, the cheapest option would be an Arduino which plays specifically named WAV files from an SD card. A Raspberry Pi running a GNU Chess compatible back-end would permit far more challenging opponents and/or remote player options.
