A friend suggested "Islamic Chess" although "Mormon Chess" applies equally. This chess variant has a king and four wives. After discussion with another friend, we found that it is feasible to make an 11×11 variant of chess with 11 pawns per player and where the centre of the nobles is queen, queen, king, queen, queen. Unfortunately, this creates a game which is more aggressive and less balanced than conventional chess because it is possible for a player to attempt end-game with pairs of queens on two occasions before resorting to rook/bishop/knight end-game.
