Fairy chess is the inclusion of pieces which permit extended moves. These typically allow repetition of distance by two, three or unlimited positions. Where repetiton is already permitted, a fairy piece may be permitted to submarine beyond blockages. It is also possible to include pieces from Eastern variants of chess, such as elephants and canons. Or combine moves of conventional pieces, such as a bishop knight. Indeed, on this basis, a queen is nothing more than bishop rook. We suggest a variant similar to Fischer chess where a fixed number of attributes (forwards, backwards, sideways, diagonal, repetition, submarining) may be assigned randomly or by player discretion.
